The Relationship Between Adult Attachment And Jealousy Experience Of College Students

When an individual' important relationship or certain superiority is threatened by an imaginary or real person,an individual experiences a multi-level,multi-dimensional psychological experience that includes resentment,shame,hostility,suspicion,anxiety,fear,sadness,etc.psychologists define it as the experience of Jealousy.Previous studies have shown that adult attachment has a certain influence on the experience of Jealousy.Coping styles also have an impact on the experience of Jealousy.However,there is no report on the relationship between these three factors.In this study,300 students from Jilin University were investigated by ECR,simplified coping style questionnaire and Bringle self-reported jealousy scale.It is aimed at exploring the situation and relationship among adult attachment,coping style,and the experience of Jealousy.Besides,this study also explores the mediating effect of coping styles between adult attachment and jealousy experience.The findings are as follows: 1?In the dimension of attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety,there were significant differences in grade and romantic relationship experience.2?College students positive response has significant differences in grade,majors and love experiences the interviewers have or not;negative response has significant differences in grade and urban and rural origin.3?Jealousy can be divided into love jealousy,general interpersonal jealousy and social competition jealousy.In the love jealousy dimension,there were significant differences in grade,majors and love experiences the interviewers have or not;In the general interpersonal jealousy dimension,there were significant differences in majors,urban and rural origin,gender and romantic relationship experience;In the social competition jealousy dimension,there were significant difference in gender.4?It has a significant correlation among adult attachment,coping style and the experience of Jealousy.Wherein,The attachment anxiety has significant negative correlation with positive coping,and also has significant positive correlation with negative coping,love jealousy,general interpersonal jealousy and social competition jealousy;negative coping has significant positive correlation with love jealousy and general interpersonal jealousy.5?Both adult attachment and coping style play a predictive role in the experience of Jealousy.Attachment anxiety positively predicts negative coping,love jealousy,general interpersonal jealousy and social competition jealousy;negative response positively predicts love jealousy and general interpersonal jealousy.6?College students' negative response plays intermediary role between attachment anxiety and general interpersonal jealousy.
