A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting In A Business English Class At Binzhou University

This report is based on the author's interpreting practice experience and presented in the form of a practice report,which aims to attach importance to English interpreting and its research,improve the interpreting skills and quality and give full play to English interpreting in international communication.This report is based on the author's experience in the Department of Economics and Management,Binzhou University as an interpreter in a business English class,and the author analyze the problems occurred in this business English class and try to propose some suggestions and solutions by combining with relevant interpreting theories as well as interpreting skills.The first three parts of this report mainly talk about the interpreting task and it's requirements to the interpreters as well as the details of the interpreting process.The fourth part mainly talks about the problems that occurred in this interpreting practice and relevant interpreting skills.The problems occurred in interpreting practice involves insufficient listening comprehension ability,omission and misinterpreting,and interpreting output is not concise enough,and each has two examples for further explanation.Interpreting skills include distributing effort properly according to Gile's effort model and task requirements,actively predicting the contents of the speaker,deverbalization and information reorganization,which all are very useful to interpreters when doing interpreting practice.In the interpreting practice,pre-interpreting preparation is very important,as it largely determines the success of interpreting.So,the interpreter should not only prepare the relevant terminologies,background knowledge and psychological,but be familiar to the speaker,target audience and interpreting site,etc.In the end,the author summarized several aspects that the interpreter needs to improve during the pre-interpreting preparation and interpreting.The author made a summary by combining previous guidance with self interpreting experience and hope to offer some help to improve the professional quality and comprehensive quality of English interpreters.
