| Interpreting enjoys a more important position in different kinds of international activities along with the development of globalization, among which consecutive interpreting is one of the widely used interpreting forms. The author was honored to take the English to Chinese consecutive interpreting during the New Talents Seminar of the 3rd Jiayuguan International Short Film Festival during the afternoon of October 18 th and the morning of October 19 th, 2014, which lasted for 5.5 hours. In the practice report, the author reviews the whole interpreting process, makes analysis about the problems met and interpreting techniques used in this interpreting combining related interpreting theories, and then the author gives some suggestions on how to improve interpreting quality in film-related activities.There are five parts in this practice report, including introduction, task description, interpreting process, case analysis and conclusion. The interpreting process part consists of before interpreting, while interpreting and after interpreting. The author makes detailed description about the preparation before interpreting, including the preparation of interpreting tools and resources, background knowledge,interpreting theories and techniques as well as the glossary classification. Then the author describes the quality control and interpreting process. And at last, the author demonstrates the post-interpreting feedback.In case analysis part, the author analyzes four typical problems met during the interpreting. At last, the author summarizes some suggestions from the post-interpreting feedback and case analysis. These aspects need to be paid attention to in film-related activities including adequate background knowledge preparation,communication with the speaker before the activity, making eye contact with the speaker and the audience during the interpreting and the use of interpreting techniques of explanation and omission. |
