This report is based on the translation practice of Chapter 1 “Perspective on learning” and Chapter 7 “Connecting spheres of learning” of the book Learners,Learning and Educational Activities.From the perspective of educational psychology and sociocultural theory,this book deeply analyzes the relationship between learners and learning and educational activities.Combining the several parts,including the distinctive understanding of learning by different schools,the acquisition of knowledge and skills,the regulation of learning,and the cultural concepts of learning,Chapter 1 explores the term learning,the human eternal topic.Chapter 7 mainly summarizes the connections between the cognitive,interpersonal and cultural spheres of learning in a more comprehensive way.Learner,Learning and Educational Activity belongs to the social science text,and the language of the book is logical and objective.According to the content and linguistic features of the excerpt,the writer regarded the accurate expression of the information of the source text as the primary purpose and completed this translation practice based on the Skopostheorie of functionalist translation theory.During the translation process,the writer chose several translation strategies in accordance with the different characteristics in vocabulary and sentence structure between English and Chinese,including addition and reduction,the conversion of part of speech and the reconstruction of sentence patterns.On the basis of the process of this translation practice,the writer completed this translation report,summarizing the experience of this practice and pointing out the orientation for further improvement,both of which may provide reference for future practice.
