A Report On English-Chinese Translation Of Product Guide Of Fresh

With the rapid development of China's marketing economy,many foreign cosmetics pour into Chinese market.Thus,it is significant to make Chinese consumers know the products and help the brand occupy the Chinese market.So how to produce a high quality E-C translation of instruction for cosmetics will become an important issue for the translators.However,currently,the study of E-C translation of cosmetic instructions is not enough.Taking Product Guide of Fresh translation from English to Chinese as a case study,this report attempts to explore some issues of English to Chinese translation of cosmetic instruction text.This report,guided by the functional equivalence theory,analyzes two major difficulties---terminology and elliptical sentence in E-C translation of Product Guide of Fresh and summarizes corresponding translation techniques.There are four parts in this report: description of the project,translation process of project,translation difficulties and solutions,translation project evaluation and suggestions.By reflecting on the differences between English and Chinese,the author classifies the translation problems of terminology and elliptical sentence first,and then on the basis of analysis,she adopts the corresponding translation strategies and techniques to cope with the different problems to ensure the smooth completion of the translation task.By the case study,the author summarizes some translation strategies and techniques for terminology and elliptical sentence translations of cosmetic instruction texts as follows: first,for terminology E-C translation,literal translation strategy,liberal translation strategy and complementary translation strategy can be applied to achieve professional and accurate translation;second,for elliptical sentence E-C translation,syntactic linearity,amplification translation technique and repetition translation technique can be employed.The author hopes the translation strategies and techniques will be helpful for the translators engaging in the related translation.
