| With further advancement in the internationalization of Chinese education,universities in China nowadays start the construction of their own official English websites.As an indispensable part of the website,news columns have played an even more important role in the demonstration of school culture.The original texts provided by various schools and departments of the university tend to be written in Chinese since English is taken as a foreign language in China.Therefore,news translation serves as a key process in the effective transmission of information and communication among universities at home and abroad through the website.The project aims to take the news column in the official English website of Nanjing Normal University as an example for analysis through case study.Provided with a series of news pieces typically chosen from the website,the author is going to point out several problems such as the translation of title and particular nouns,and the proper dealing with the long and complicated sentences.Under the guidance of Eugene A.Nida's Functional Equivalence translation theory,the author will come up with some feasible solutions such as the application of ellipsis,amplification,division,and integration to the difficulties correspondingly.The goal of the project is to call on the translators to pay close attention to the certain aspects while undertaking the task,and to provide them with a reference to some extent so as to further improve the website construction. |
