Exertion Of Translator's Subjectivity In Translation Project In The Background Of Big Data

With the development of NLP,as well as a large amount of data,machine translation has made some progress,greatly reducing the workload of translators.Translation tasks with less professional requirement or preliminary translation is gradually intruded by Machine Translation(MT).However,language,as a peculiar product of human beings,is rich in elements such as culture,logic,emotion and time and cannot be replaced.Translation by artificial intelligence algorithm is not flexible,for artificial intelligence is still in the weak stage.For a long time to come,the translation model in business will still be MT + TM + PE.Patent documents are now the main object of study in machine translation and intelligent translation,and the translator's major role in the translation of texts such as patents has been changed greatly by the tools and working methods applied.Subjective sociality represents one aspect of subjectivity.Social production drives the connection between different social relations,so does the subjectivity of translator when there are changes in the translation production when translating.In this thesis,Chapter one briefly shows the current status of Artificial Intelligence and overviews major researches on patent translation and machine translation,arguing that language,as a product peculiar to human beings,is rich in elements such as culture,logic,emotion and time and cannot be replaced.Then it reviews the application of translation technology to translation of patents and the current research status of translator's subjectivity.In Chapter two,after introducing the translation project applied,the author generalizes features of the word,sentence and context of this patent translation document,and sets forth the goal,problems,measures taken and technique and tools applied before,during and after the translation work.In Chapter Three,by ways of separating translation procedures and controlled trails,the translator's subjectivity is demonstrated in three translation modes: "manual translation","machine translation + post-translation editing" and "machine translation + computer assistant + post-translation editing".Finally,in Chapter Four,having made a contrast of traditional translation environment with the current translation environment with big data,the author wants to show that against the big data environment,changes in translator's subjectivity have taken place in sensibility,rationality,controllability,purpose and subjective initiative.The thesis aims to prove: although artificial intelligence is still at its weak stage and translation by artificial intelligence algorithm is not flexible,still it exerts great influence upon the translator's subjectivity and his working methods in the process of translation of texts such as patent documents with fixed patterns.Against the background of big data,only by embracing technology and updating their ability in time,can translators adapt to today's translation production.
