Abstract/Summary:
With the need of social development,a large number of migrant workers flow into cities,followed by the floating population in the education of their children is becoming increasingly prominent.Tianjin,as one of the five municipalities directly under the central government,has great potential for education and social development.The migrant children are sent to schools nearby the temporary place of abode and educated along with the local children in Tianjin.Because of the difference of living conditions and survival pressure between the floating population and the citizen,the grown-up issues of migrant children(such as the living habits,the regional culture,and the dialects)are becoming especially obvious.The issues affect the quality of life and mental health status on their city life,therefore,it is definitely necessary to compare the conditions between migrant children and urban children.The results will also provide references for more targeted education in schools.In this study,241 senior students from a primary school with more migrant children in NanKai District,Tianjin were given a questionnaire with ’Quality of Life Scale for children and adolescents’ and ’Mental Health for children and adolescents’.The senior students were divided into migrant children and urban children,and were investigated the status quo of quality of life and mental health,respectively.Meanwhile,the survey results would be compared between the two groups.We analyzed the data processing results so as to put forward some targeted educating suggestions.The results were as follows:1.There is a significant difference in the dimensions of the living environment in the quality of life of primary school children and urban children in the quality of life and in the dimensions of the convenience of living,and in the quality of life satisfaction factor.The average score of urban children is higher than that of migrant children.In terms of athletic ability,the average score of urban children is lower than that of migrant children,and there are significant margins.2.The average score of migrant children in the upper grades of primary school is higher than that of urban children in the dimension of mental health thinking,reaching a significant margin.3.There are significant positive correlations between the four factors of quality of life and some of their dimensions and the five areas of mental health.4.The social psychological function and physiological and psychological health factors in the quality of life have a positive predictive effect on the total score of mental health.
