Nowadays, with the influence of globalization, the cultural communication has become more frequent than ever before. And the literature translation has become more important day by day.Joseph Conrad,a Polish-born English writer,is famous for his seafaring novels. And his novels are not only let readers enjoy the excellent story of sea adventures, but also give readers a chance to understand the culture of different countries. The novel Falk is one of those novels.During the process of translating the novel, the translator finds that there are a lot of modifiers in the source text.Firstly, many modifiers are employed to describe a word.Secondly, many modifiers are applied to describe something in sentences or some parts of sentences. Therefore,it influences the understanding of the novel and the quality of the translated text directly if the translator can understand and translate those modifiers correctly and properly.Aiming at solving the problems in the source text, for instance, the overlap of adjectives, the overlap of nouns, the overlap of clauses, grammatically improper sentences, etc, the translator concludes some translation methods and makes some suggestions under the guidance of Skopos theory. As for the overlap of adjectives, the translator uses the translation methods of omission and adjustments of word order;concerning the overlap of adverbs and nouns, the translator adopts the translation methods of amplification and word-class shift;in the case of the overlap of clauses, the translator applied the translation methods of breaking sentences up and reconstructing the sentence order, etc. And the reporter wants those methods and suggestions in the translation task can be useful for domestic readers and inspire the translator who confronts the same difficulties.
