A Report On The Translation Of Foreign Media Views On The Belt And Road Initiative(2017)(Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Discourse Cohesion

This report is a case study of the E-C translation of Foreign Media Views on The Belt and Road Initiative(2017)(Excerpt).It introduces the translation task and analyzes the difficulties and requirements of news translation from the perspective of discourse cohesion.The whole report consists of five parts — the introduction,description of the translation task,the translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The first chapter is the description of the translation task,including an introduction to the task,the articles translated and the significance of the task.Then it elaborates the report writer's translation process,including searching background information,proof reading and revising the translation,solving problems encountered while translating and conducting serious post-translation reflections.In the part of case analysis,the writer reviewed differences between English and Chinese languages from the perspective of Holliday's cohesion theory in terms of reference,ellipsis,substitution,conjunction and lexical cohesion in the hope that he can improve the coherence and readability of his translation.The last part comes the conclusion,in which the writer summarizes the cohesion and coherence strategies in news translation as well as the characteristics and difficulties of translating such texts,so that he can do a better job when dealing with the same type of texts in the future.
