As climate change being a trending topic, this phenomenon has become a global concern. For this reason, the source text of this translation practice is selected from Chapter 1 of Global Climate Change-The Technology Challenge. The chapter discusses the current status of key technologies needed to protect the planet from serious climate change impacts. With numerical modeling and statistical analyses, the chapter aims at addressing the environmental issues through state-of-art and interdisciplinary approaches.Relevance theory believes that a translation is better understood by readers once it achieves the optimal relevance between the source language and the target language.Under the guidance of the relevance theory, the translator should choose correct contextual assumption from the underlying context and infer the intention of source language from the several communicative clues on lexical, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic levels.Based on this circumstance, the translator should choose the proper translation version in order to match the intention of source language and to meet the expectations of target language readers. This translation practice report aims to summarize the difficulties that the translator met during the translation process, for example, terminology and complex sentences. Also, the translator discusses the solutions to the problems and analyzes the translation skills and strategies that are employed based on the relevance theory, such as diction of word, conversion, restructuring and omission. With the theoretical basis and case study, the translation practice report is conducted in four parts, namely the description of the translation task, the description of the translation process, case analysis, and the summary of the translation practice.
