With the deepening of communication among countries and regions in politics, economy, culture and other fields, the study of interpreting comes to flourish. In addition, simultaneous interpreting strategies have also been studied from different perspectives, and experts and scholars have also begun to pay attention to researches of other disciplines which they would learn from.At the same time, the study of the segmental phonemes in linguistics has not been sufficient to meet the development demand of the disciplines. Therefore, the study of suprasegmental phonemes has gradually received widespread attention.Suprasegmental phonemes mainly include the stress, the rhythm and the intonation in spoken English. This thesis mainly studies English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting strategies from the perspective of suprasegmental phonemes based on the speeches of the former United Nations Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and Secretary-general António Guterres.Suprasegmental phonemes are closely related to the meaning of the spoken language. Therefore, this thesis analyzes the speaker's interpretation from the aspects of the stress, the rhythm and the intonation respectively. The major role of the stress is to emphasize the focus of sentence content;the rhythm has an important influence on the accuracy of the interpretation and different intonations can express different attitudes of the speaker. On this basis, this thesis further analyzes the English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting strategies respectively applied by the interpreter from the aspects of the stress, the rhythm, and the intonation.Consequently, this thesis believes that in the English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting,it benefits interpreters to adopt proper interpreting strategies from the aspects of the stress, the rhythm and the intonation, such as repetition, sentence segmentation, waiting, opposition and conversion. Therefore, the interpreters can capture the speaker's key words fleetly and fully understand the speaker's meaning,so that the target language can be smooth, natural and close to the speaker's intention of expression.Accordingly, the quality of interpretation can be enhanced.
