As a complicated verbal communication activity,Simultaneous Interpreting(SI)requires the interpreter to convey the meaning in target language concisely and coherently at almost the same speed of the speaker.International and domestic experts come up with series of theories and techniques through practice and exploration. In the process,Syntactic linearity and interpretive translation are among the basic principles.Given the differences between English and Chinese sentence structures and expressions, interpreters must grasp the techniques such as segmentation, waiting, prediction, adjustment, addition, deletion and repetition,in order to interpret accurately and fluently. In this practice report, the speeches by Theresa May,Julie Bishop and Miroslav Laj?ák at the 72 nd Session of the UN General Assembly are adopted for the author's simultaneous interpreting practice.By simulating the E-C simultaneous interpretation in the UN conference, the author analyzes the problems in translation process considerably. The methods of solving the problems are studied in the report,so that they can serve as a guidance in the author's future interpreting career.
