The Situationof English Learning Motivationon Primary School Students In The Frontier Ethnic Areas And The Interference Of Group Counseling

Since 2001,the ministry of education has issued documents on the opening of English courses in urban and county primary schools in China.English courses usually start with grade three in primary schools.The city of MangShi is a minority area of Chinese frontier and borders Myanmar.What is the current situation of English learning motivation for students in frontier minority areas in China? Can we intervene with the help of group counseling? This is a matter which is worthy of concerning.This study selected 1095 students as the research objects from MangShi No.5 primary school in frontier minority areas of China.Moreover,the researcher used SPSS software for handling and analyzing the data on English learning motivation of the samples.According to the results of the data and the positive psychology theory,the researcher selected 61 subjects to intervene with the help of group counseling.Finally,it is high time that the study need to identify whether the group counseling is effective.Suggestions of the study are put forward.The intervention of group counseling on basis of positive psychology theory and research conclusions;the reflection on the research methods.The research shows that:?.Among these pupils,the highest score of students' English learning motivation is external motive dimension,and followed by teaching motivation,social responsible motivation and integration motivation.The lowest score is internal motivation.?.On differences of gender,girls have better motivation than boys in English learning.?.On differences of grade,the strongest English learning motivation is grade three.As the grade increasing,the level of motivation decreases.?.The results of the testing group counseling effectiveness shows that four kinds of motivation dimensions are effective greatly except the dimension of social responsibility motivation.To sum up,the programs of group counseling can stimulate students' English learning motivation effectively.
