Ci poetry is the essence of the traditional Chinese culture.Among the ancient poetesses,Li Qingzhao,a great master of the elegant and restrained style,has been studied for her ci poems.Academic interests in Li Qingzhao's works and their English translations have been growing steadily in the past years.Among many translators who have translated Li's works,Wang Jiaosheng is less known.The style of Li Qingzhao's works is elegant and restrained.She usually turns the vulgar into the elegant and forms her unique style.The emotion revealed in her works by means of refinement and line drawing techniques touches readers deeply,so does the beauty in language,form,and spirit.Naturally,a question might be raised: Could such beauty in her ci poems be precisely represented in the translation?From the perspective of Mr.Liu Miqing's translation aesthetics,the author of this thesis focuses on translation aesthetic subject and object to analyze Li Qingzhao's ci poems and Wang Jiaosheng's translation.From the perspective of translation aesthetic object,the beauty of Li Qingzhao's poetry is analyzed.From the perspective of translation aesthetic subject,the life of Wang Jiaosheng and his efforts in translation are explored.With the combination of translation aesthetic subject and object,Su Zhong Qing,Gu Yan Er and Yu Jia Ao of Wang Jiaosheng's translation are analyzed comprehensively.The beauty in language,form and spirit of the source text is well transferred in Wang Jiaosheng's translation.It is indeed faithfully represented to the target readers.
