A Preliminary Study On Porcelain Tea Wares Unearthed In The Song Dynasty Kiln Sites In Guangdong And Guangxi Provinces

Song Dynasty is the most prosperous stage of Chinese tea culture and also a golden age of ceramic industry.Under this background,porcelain industry and tea industry had a great development in Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces.Based on archaeological data available,the author makes a classification and analyzes its decorative art of unearthed porcelain from five kiln sites of Song Dynasty in this region with archaeological typology method,historical document studies,multidisciplinary studies and so on.Besides,the author also discusses the influential factors about the prevailing of porcelain tea set.This thesis contains three parts:introduction,mainbody,and conclusion.The first part:it is an introduction,which explains the reasons of choosing this topic and its value.Besides,it will introduce some relevant issues and review the research of Song Dynasty porcelain tea set.The second part:it is the mainbody of the thesis,which can be further divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly gives an introduction on the connotation and development of tea culture,tea manners of Song Dynasty and tea set of Song Dynasty.The second chapter divides the Guangdong and Guangxi into five parts,Guangdong Hanjiang River valley,the Pearl River Delta region,the Leizhou Peninsula area,northern Guangxi,and southeastern Guangxi region,according to kilns location and the difference of unearthed porcelain varieties.The author will divide the unearthed porcelains from the kilns of Song Dynasty into three kinds,drinking tea set,boiling tea set and storing tea set,analyzing them with the methods of archaeological typology,induction and so on.The third chapter multidisciplinary analysis in detail the decorative art of porcelain tea set of Song Dynasty in terms of tea varieties,glaze decoration techniques,patterns of decorative art,and comes to the conclusion that the decorative techniques of the porcelain tea set decorative art in the region emphasizes simplicity,freehand;planarity and displaying all the pictures like flower,insect,and fish in the same plane through the technique of deformation and exaggeration while not covering and overlapping,and reducing decorative ornamentation in the mysterious exaggeration description but increasing animals and plants which can increase the realism and the secular characteristics.The forth chapter analyzes factors which have an influence on prevailing of porcelain tea set of Song Dynasty in Guangdong and Guangxi.Four factors,politics,economy,culture and religion,affect its prevailing.Economy and culture are more powerful among them,especially the trade of sea silk road and Boyi market.The third part:it is a conclusion,which summarizes the whole thesis and point out some research deficiencies in the thesis.
