| This translation report is based on the first chapter of The Innovative University,which is about American higher education facing crisis because of the lack of disruptive innovation.The crisis includes diminished access,increasing costs,etc.that leads to educational innovator’s dilemma.The translator is guided by “dynamic equivalence” theory,also called “functional equivalence” theory,which is put forward by Eugene A.Nida in Toward a Science of Translating(1964).Thus,the translator mainly adopted the techniques of amplification and omission to finish this translation practice.Four chapters are included in this translation report.Chapter One describes the background and significance of this translation practice.Chapter Two is the analysis of the original text from its contents and features.Chapter Three deals with amplification and omission techniques.In this chapter,the author first gives the definition and classification of amplification and omission.Then,the author discusses the features of amplification and omission.Finally,the author analyzes amplification and omission techniques employed in translating the source text with examples.Chapter Four is the conclusive summary of this report.It is hoped that this report will be of some help to studies of translation techniques and innovation of higher education. |
