This translation report is an analysis of the previous translation practice, and writer extracted ten thousand words as the sample text to analyze. These ten thousand words text are all science and technology translation, while the feature of science and technology language is tight, brief and rigorous. It is a type of writing that cause trouble to translate. During translation, writer summarized some of the specific characters of science and technology translation. This report will discuss amplification and omission with plenty of examples in the sample text under the guidance of equivalence principle to achieve the goal of better translation.This translation report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the description of translation task, including the nature and content of the text. The second chapter is the description of process of translation, including translation tools, translation plan, text reading and text proofreading etc.. The third chapter is about the problems and solutions that used in the translation, and mainly talk about the amplification and omission. Chapter four is a summary of this translation mission, which summarize the writer’s gain and some experience in this translating process.
