In recent years,with the rise of positive psychology,academic engagement has gradually entered the researchers' field of vision.Learning is the main activity and main task of middle school students.In terms of academic achievement,students will experience the sense of value,achievement and a lot of positive emotions,while academic engagement is a strong guarantee for learning efficiency and academic performance.Therefore,from the focus of positive psychology,study on academic engagement.To explore the relationship between parenting styles and academic engagement of middle school students,and to study whether there are significant influences on individual academic engagement by different parenting styles.Clarify the influence path of parenting styles and explore whether the self-esteem has mediating effect in the path of influence.This study randomly selected students of three middle schools in sichuan province,with 869 students as samples.Take class as unit,use cluster random sampling.Researcher use Parenting Styles Questionnaire for Adolescent(PS)of ZOU Hong,Academic Engagement Scale(LI)and Self-Esteem Scale(SES)of Rosenber,survey students' academic engagement,self-esteem and parenting styles.Make use of SPSS and MPLUS statistical software process the data.On the basis of the data analysis results and previous studies,discussing the relation of parenting styles and self-esteem and academic engagement.Verify whether self-esteem as mediational role in the ways of parenting styles and academic engagement.According to the research conclusions,and relevant suggestions at home and abroad,put forward relevant suggestions.The results show that:1.Parents of middle school students often adopt positive parenting styles.The gender difference,grade difference and only-child difference of the parenting styles of middle school students are significant.2.Middle school students have a moderate overall self-esteem,with significant differences in family socioeconomic status.3.The overall academic engagement of middle school students is in good condition and there are significant grade differences.4.Parents' emotional warmth,parental behavior guidance and academic engagement and their three dimensions are significantly positively correlated,with significant positive correlation with self-esteem;Parental punishment was significantly negatively correlated with academic engagement and its three dimensions,which was negatively correlated with self-esteem.Self-esteem is positively correlated with academic engagement and its three dimensions.5.The parenting style of behavioral guidance can significantly predict the academic engagement and its three dimensions.Mother's punishment control significantly negative to predict academic engagement,learning behavior input,learning emotional input.The mother's behavior guidance significantly predicted the self-esteem of middle school students,and the mother's punishment and control was significantly negative to predict the self-esteem of middle school students.Self-esteem has a significant effect on academic engagement and positive prediction of three dimensions.6.Self-esteem in parents' emotional warmth and learning into partial intermediary effect between self-esteem and learning into the parents' behavior guidance also have partial intermediary effect between self-esteem in parents punish only plays a role of intermediary between control and learning.According to the results of this study,the following Suggestions are proposed for education:1.Parents should use the warm and understanding parenting style education children,and grasp the way and strength of punishment.2.Psychological intervention for low self-esteem individuals.3.Parents attach great importance to education input to their children and mobilize the initiative and enthusiasm of their children to learn.
