Lab Girl,which was written by Hope Jahren,is an attractive biography.In this book,the writer vividly describes her own life and work.Biographical literature is the product of the combination of history and literature.It is a kind of literary style that reproduces the life and character of the real characters.In the process of presenting the history and literature of the original work,because of the different literary and artistic competence,aesthetic value and special living environment between translator and original writer,the translator should give fully play to the cognitive processing ability in translating biographies and pay attention to the "documentary","artistry" and "creativity" of the translated work.The cognitive integration theory focuses on translator‘s cognitive function,which breaks the fact that the translation of biographical literature is limited to the level of text transformation,and introduces non-text elements,such as culture and rhetoric which need the cognitive processing in translator's mind,and then emphasizes the process of combination,perfection,refinement and so on.Based on the translation of Lab Girl and the guidance of cognitive integration theory,this paper explains the translation strategies and its cognitive integration mechanism.The core mechanism of cognitive integration theory revolves around four spaces: Input space I,Input space II,Generic space and Blend space,while the four spaces confronted by translation are the source language space,the target language space,the translator space and the translated text space,which can exactly form the corresponding relationship with the four space of cognitive integration theory.This paper discusses the cognitive process and the integration mechanism of translation according to two integration models: Single Domain Integration and Dual Domain Integration.Translation strategies can be broadly divided into three categories: foreignization,domestication and the combination of foreignization and domestication.On the basis of understanding for the structure and cultural psychological schema of the original text,the translator makes use of her own cultural psychological schema and language expression form to carry out the integration in the blend space.Under the guidance of conceptual integration theory,translation is a kind of dynamic operation and the creativity of translation and the diversity of translation can be better explained.The translator offers her Chinese version and displays her understanding in the hope of exercising her translation competence and deepening her translation study as well as providing some references for people interested in this book and those interested in translation and study of biographical literature.
