A Translation Study Of Cultural Vacancy In Russian Version Of The Novel The Republic Of Wine

After receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012,Mo Yan gained extensive attention in literary world of Russia.The Republic of Wine is one of his most important works.Like other foreign literary works,The Republic of Wine is not easy to translate,because there are many Chinese culture phenomenons in this novel.These "cultural vacancies" are worthy of intensive study."Cultural vacancy" in Russian version of the novel The Republic of Wine are divided into two types-linguistic and cultural.In the translation of this novel,the following methods are used: transcription,literal translation,substitution,descriptive translation and omission.As for translation strategy of the version,foreignization is the main strategy,and domestication is supplementary.There are some linguistic and cultural mistranslations in this version.To avoid them,it is necessary to follow these principles-to pay attention to the coherence of the text,the translation unit and the pragmatic meaning of the text.The significance of the work lies in the promotion of further development of the translation of modern Chinese literature into Russian,as well as the increasing interest of Russian readers in Chinese culture and the expansion of cultural communication between China and Russia.This work consists of 5 parts.The first part is an introduction,which reveals the overseas and domestic research status,the purpose,significance,methodology and point of innovation in this work.The second part illustrates the source,definition and classification of the "cultural vacancy".The third part analyzes the methods and strategies adopted in the translation of the novel The Republic of Wine.The fourth part discusses the source,definition and classification of mistranslation,pointing out the impact of mistranslation and the solutions to this problem.The last part is conclusion.
