Language learners will inevitably make errors in the process of language learning. Therefore, the analysis of students' writing errors is of great significance both for teachers and students.Error analysis is a branch of applied linguistics.According to Corder(1981),Error analysis theory in SLA was established in 1967,with the publication of his work “The Significance of Learner's Errors”.Error analysis is an approach influenced by behaviorism through which applied linguists sought to use the formal distinctions between the learners' first and second languages to predict errors.Error Analysis plays an important role in second language teaching. It helps researchers understand the process and strategies of second language learning, thus enriching theories of second language acquisition. It helps teachers realize the common characteristics shared by language learners, which can promote the progress in teaching. It also helps students gain some insights into the difficulties during the learning process, which can result in the improvement in their learning methods. This thesis analysis 60 English compositions written by senior students of Xinjiang Experimental High School in their monthly test in November,2017.There are altogether 738 errors in the collecting samples, which can be divided into four categories: Substance Errors,Lexicon Errors,Grammar Errors and Cohesion Errors.Through the analysis, the author finds that the Grammar errors are among the highest of all errors with the proportion of 40%,which should be paid strong attention through the process of teaching writing. Then the Lexicon errors come the next with the proportion of 25%,which consisted of wrong choices and miscollocations of words. The third highest is the Substance errors which takes up 21% of the total amount;and the last one-Cohesion errors-only takes up 14%.Based on the analysis of the errors committed by the students in their writings, according to the current situation of bilingual high schoolers' English language learning and teaching, the author puts forward several methods on error correction and there are also some pedagogical suggestions.
