The Changing Political Economy of Energy in China, published in December,2016,is excerpted from a report of the CSIS energy and national security program, written by Jane Nakano and Kang Wu.This translation report is based on the first six chapters of The Changing Political Economy of Energy in China, which is about 13000 words in total. In the six chapters, the author introduced the “New Normal” of the Chinese energy economy, changing political economy of energy in China and environmental degradation and climate changes and key observations of the author. The main purpose of the report is to discuss how to identify common problems in the course of the translation through analyzing such text, and how to solve the problems and difficulties by employing effective translation strategies,so as to improve the accuracy of the translated text. The report consists of four chapters: the chapter one is the introduction to translation project, like project background, objectives and significance. The chapter two is the introduction to the translation progress, including its preliminary work, introduction to the source text author, the analysis and difficulties of the project. The chapter three includes the selected typical cases, analyzes the key points in the translation process and the translation methods used in accordance with the principle of faithfulness and smoothness. The last chapter is the conclusion summarizing the lessons and experiences gained in carrying out this project and problems needed to be solved.Through the summary and reflection of the whole translation process,it is found that pre-translational analysis is crucial to ensure the quality of translation. As the report reveals, the translator should use the appropriate translation principles as guidance, and always be focus on the differentials between at home and abroad, putting target readers at the center.
