In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, the economy is more and more globalized and internationalized. With more and more foreign tourists coming to China,guide-interpreters,as cultural messengers, are becoming increasingly important. However, due to the differences between cultures,guide-interpreters will certainly encounter cross-cultural communication barriers while providing interpreting service. This thesis is a report on the author's guide interpreting practice at Shunde Museum.Based on the author's interpreting practice, this report describes the whole process of this experience including the pre-task preparation, the choosing of translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory, and the analysis and conclusion of this practice. As a type of interpreting, guide interpreting has its own features, namely, being tourist-oriented,culture-loaded and highly informative. These features are closely associated with the Skopos Theory,so the author views this practice from the perspective of this theory.Under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos Theory, the author has adopted the translation strategies of amplification, paraphrasing and omission to deal with the difficulties appearing in the practice,so as to provide a satisfactory interpreting service for the foreign tourist. After completing the guide interpreting task, the author also conducted self-valuation and came up with suggestions for other guide-interpreters.A guide-interpreter should have a high level of proficiency in the foreign language, and be fully prepared for the task.In the process of interpreting, the interpreter also needs to provide attractive interpreting to make the tourist enjoy the whole process.
