| The Foundation of China-EU Relations is written by Wang Yigui,the director of “China-EU Academic Connection”,which contains five parts,including Ambassadors to Europe talk about EU and China-EU Relations,The Study of Sino-EU Relations and Its Transcendence,European Debt Crisis and Its Impact on China-EU Relations,Reflections on China-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and The Foundation of China-EU Relations.The eighth chapter,i.e.the fifth part includes opinions of Hu Hao,Qiu Zhenhai and Lian Yuru on political,social and country-specific foundation and so on.This translation report,based on the translation practice of chapter 8,describes the translation process of this translation task,analyzes the stylistic features and characteristics of the source text,and sums up the main problems that arise when translating.The most difficult points that the author confronts when translating this text are complex sentences.Among these sentences,there seldom exist obvious cohesion marks,which is a prominent feature of Chinese language.The author divides the complex sentences in the text into two categories in accordance with the characteristics of complex sentence: single-layer complex sentences,multi-layer complex sentences and translate them into English.The author mainly analyzes 20 cases in this paper.As the international-relations text involves the terms in the fields of politics and international situations,the author not only improves the ability to translate such texts,but also strengthens the understanding of the international situation while solving the difficulties.Layer-analyzing is needed to translate complex sentences well.The translator needs to translate complex sentences in the light of layer relations among sentences.The translation practice is to translate from Chinese into English,and the translation of complex sentences is quite difficult,therefore the author hopes that this translation report will be helpful to other translators in their future translation. |
