| Football is regarded as the most influential sport in the world.Big five European football leagues represent the top level in world football and are the indicator of football development.There is lots of football news written in English on mainstream European sites every day,so English football news is the main way for people to learn about world football.Now with mobile Internet technology developing rapidly,network has become the main source for young people to get news.Translating mainstream football news from Europe accurately and timely is a goal for Chinese media.So far,there has been little research on translation of football news in domestic.In this translation report,the source texts are from mainstream European sites with some significance of transmission,involving club news,game news,player news and so on.This report makes a conclusion of the translator’s English football news translation experience and shows the network news translation process of taking over tasks,translating source texts,proofreading target texts and releasing news.Guided by Skopos theory,from the aspects of headline,lead and body,this report explores the features of football news and the corresponding translation strategies and skills,such as literal translation,free translation,omitting,reversing,compiling,combined with specific cases.In the end,some non-text issues like time difference and reader’s need are put forward.Unlike other types of texts,there are also some notable differences in content and typesetting of network news.Although this report isn’t perfect,it may provide help for other translators. |
