This is a translation report of Natural Disasters in a Global Environment(excerpts)mainly written by Anthony N.Penna.This book is made up of three parts on the whole,which are the three reasons that caused natural disasters: internal processes,surficial processes and atmospheric processes.Under the guidance of the theory of functional equivalence,this report probes into the translation of natural disasters and aims to conclude the focal and difficult points,especially how to deal with especially how to process different professional knowledge,foreign names and complex sentences in translating,so that it can offer some suggestions in this kind of translation text.Moreover,the translation report aims at presenting new thoughts to Chinese readers,hoping that we will realize the importance of protecting environment and figure out ways to decrease diminish natural or man-made disasters.This translation report is divided into four parts: the first part introduces the background of this translation project,including origin,objectives and significance of the project.The second part describes the translation processes,which covers the translation theory and translation difficulties,including the translation difficulties of professional knowledge,specialized vocabulary and difficult long sentences.Moreover,this report analyzes all these translation difficulties and solved all the problems with the different kinds of translation methods.The last part concludes the lessons during the translation and unsolved problems.
