The period during Late Qing dynasty and early Republic of China is the transitional period of the Chinese society from traditional to modern.During this period,along with beginning and development of modern education,it appeared a modern significant professional teacher community in Shanxi.There are some obvious transitional traits on it,so it is a mixture of old and new intellectual.According to the investigation of the origin,teaching and salary of teachers in Jinzhong and Taiyuan,we can clarify the transition of Shanxi teacher community to modernization and explore its important role in promoting the modernization of Shanxi society.This article consists of five parts to discuss this topic:The first part mainly analyzes the formation of the modern teacher community.The modern teacher community rise with the emergence of school education,so the first chapter traces the background of the rise of Shanxi school education at the turn of Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic.On this basis,the second chapter focuses on the formation of modern teacher community.On this basis,the second chapter focuses on the formation of modern teacher community in Taiyuan and Jinzhong at the turn of Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic.The second part introduces the origin and development of the modern teacher community.The turn of Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic late were the transition period from the traditional society to the modern society,so the sources of the modern teacher community were complex and diverse.Through the research,the teacher community can be divided into six types: the Merchant,student studying abroad,old-style literators Through the research,the teacher community can be divided into six types: the Merchant,student studying abroad,old-style literators,ordinary school graduates,foreign teachers,normal school students.From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China,The development trend of the teacher group is: the source of the teacher group is diversified;the teacher community has gradually realized the modernization;the female teacher has gradually increased.The third part is the key chapter of this paper,which discusses the innovation of the modern teacher's teaching in Taiyuan and Jinzhong at the turn of Late Qing Dynasty andEarly Republic including the renewal of the teachers' educational concept,the use of teaching materials,the teaching materials,the teaching methods,the teaching contents and the teaching effects.The fourth part examines the salaries of modern teacher community,their sources of founding,and the salary levels and social status of teachers at all levels.The final part evaluates the modernization of Shanxi teachers at the turn of Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic,on the basis of the above chapters.The positive aspects are as follows: first,with the continuous improvement of the number and quality of new teachers,This is conducive to the formation of “model province” in Shanxi.Secondly,the rise of these teachers in scale will certainly have a positive effect on the transformation of Shanxi society.There are also some shortcomings,mainly reflected in the low level of teachers' modernization and the obvious gap between urban and rural teachers' modernization level.
