A Report On C-E Translation Of Tour Guide Manual Of Scenic Spots In Jinzhong(Shanxi Province)

Tourism is a bridge to spread civilization,exchange culture and promote friendship,as well as an important indicator of people's living standards.Jinzhong,a city of Shanxi Province,one of the birthplaces of the culture of Shanxi and the cradles of the culture of Shanxi merchants,has profound cultural deposits and rich tourism resources,which is deeply loved by both domestic and foreign tourists.With the booming development of the tourism industry of Jinzhong,a large number of foreign tourists have been attracted here.However,due to many reasons,especially the quality of translation,the foreign tourism industry has not been effectively developed.The translation of tourism texts is so important that it will be beneficial to leave a better impression on foreign tourists and let them have a deeper understanding of the culture of Jinzhong.Some of the famous tour guide manuals about Jinzhong,Shanxi province are selected to be translated and analyzed so that the quality of translation can be improved.They are presented via a translation report.Firstly,this report introduces the project background and research status about tourism at home and abroad.Secondly,the features of the texts are analyzed by reading the articles carefully.Meanwhile,preparation and records are well made during translation,and the translation texts are polished carefully several times.It is found that the texts have a large number of culture-loaded words and sentences and four-character words and that some long and difficult sentences are frequently used.Therefore,this report mainly makes analysis on these kinds of words and sentences,and summarizes specific translation methods,such as transliteration and categorization,transliteration and annotation,interpretation,literal translation and free translation,etc.On the one hand,it aims to translate practical tourism texts and make a contribution to promoting the foreign tourism in Jinzhong.On the other hand,the texts are analyzed from the aspects of vocabularies and sentences to explore the translation skills and strategies suitable for tourism texts,so as to provide references for the translation of such texts in the future.
