This paper is a translation practice based on South Atlantic War II--The Falklands/Malvinas Conflict written by Ed Kettler who is a computer war game designer. This book is a supplement to the wargame Harpoon 4,telling the biggest military conflict since the Second World War--the Falklands/Malvinas Conflict between Argentina and England. The book includes the detailed compilation of historical events and relevant battle data in this conflict. This translation project is a training material of Naval Aviation University. As a part of the internal material, the translation is approved by the teachers of Naval Aviation University and only used within the school. As a non-literary translation,it is more professional and logic with more long and difficult sentences. Therefore,in the process of translation,I follow the principle of “faithfulness, expressiveness, and elegance” brought up by Yan Fu,putting faithfulness first.I mainly focus on the reduction of military specialized terms' semantics. Then,I strive to make the translation of long sentences simple, clear and easy to understand, and finally try to show the style of military texts. This report describes the translation project, analyzes the characteristics of the original text, introduces the translation processes, and detects the problems encountered in translation, discusses solutions to the problems and the translation strategies used from three aspects--vocabulary,long sentences and text.
