A Report On The Chinese Translation Of China's Nuclear Forces And Weapons Of Mass Destruction(Chapters 3-5)

This is a translation report based on E-C translation cooperation between Guilin Research Center for Government Digit Dissemination and Culture as a Soft Power and Guangxi Normal University,and the author is responsible for translating some chapters of the source text.Benefited from the improved military strength of her own,China's international nuclear status continuously promotes.In order to safeguard national security and strengthen nuclear status of her own,China must continuously improve military strength,including military cultural soft power.And military translation has a certain strategic meaning in terms of national security,so it deserves more attention of the academia.Based on this,the author chooses a military document —— China's Nuclear Forces and Weapons of Mass Destruction,and translates Chapters 3-5 in it.This part demonstrates foreign mainstream military publications' detailed assessments of China's Nuclear Forces,opinions on China's nuclear policies and nuclear reactions,as well as overviews and analysis on regional nuclear conditions.This translation report can be mainly divided into two sections.The first section is the translation source text and its translation in Appendix 1,the author translates some chapters of the chosen military text into Chinese with the help of CAT tools(mainly Transmate).In order to guarantee the translation quality,the author carefully reads the background information and studies the military knowledge related to the source text before translation.The second section is the main body of the report,the author analyzes the linguistic features and the translation of the source text,there are four chapters: Chapter 1 is the introduction of the translation project,introducing the project's background and the structure of the report;Chapter 2 is the translation process of the text,including preparations for translation,analysis of the source text,reference to parallel texts,and quality control;Chapter 3 is the case analysis,analyzing the translation at the lexical,syntactical,and textual level;Chapter 4 is the conclusion of the translation project,summarizing the difficulties and solutions in the course of the translation,explaining the author's reflections in completing this translation project,showing the enlightenments of the project for similar research in the future,and pointing out the deficiencies of the project.Through this translation project,on the one hand,the author hopes to improve her translation skills,better understand the features of military text,and master the translation methods of military translation;on the other hand,the author wishes to make some contribution to the improvement of China's military translation research as well as the promotion of intercultural military communication.
