The scholars of the Paris School of Interpretive Theory of Translation believe that the interpretation process includes three steps,namely comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation and the second step constitutes the core of translation.It requires the translator to think about and analyze the true meaning of the information.It is still very difficult to achieve this in the practice of interpretation.If the translator can't analyze the meaning of the original text and convey it,it is meaningless to just translate the text.This is just to complete the translation work,and ignore the feelings of the audience.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the use of de-verbalization in interpretation.Through the specific case analysis of translation practice,this thesis points out the inadequacies caused by insufficient de-verbalization: mistranslation of polysemous words,sentence structure,ambiguity,and analysis of the improvement methods of each case.The author then tried to give a macro strategy to improve one's ability to leverage deverbalization in interpretation,from translation skills to language skills,including linguistic knowledge,all need to be trained.Drawing on her own experience and supported by a meticulously documented sample of interpretation,the author hopes this empirical study on the role of de-verbalization in Chinese-French consecutive interpreting can serve as a reference point for interpreters and researchers alike.
