Misinterpretation And Insufficient Interpretation In Consecutive Interpreting From Spanish To Chinese

The completeness and accuracy of the translated language is one of the most important criteria when it comes to evaluate the quality of consecutive interpretation.This thesis,based on the author’s interpreting experience at the 8th Latin American Summit Entrepreneur Forum Model Conference,analyses the completeness and lack of accuracy of the author’s interpretation,and summarizes the three types of misinterpreting and insufficient interpreting that are common in the author’s practice,due to the lack of certain extra-linguistic knowledge and some knowledge for language,incorrect anticipation,analysis of certain information independent from connected paragraph.For these three typical problems,the coping strategies are:accumulate extra-linguistic knowledge and do pre-task preparation,accumulate knowledge for language and avoid incorrect anticipation as well as improve source language analysis through no-notes consecutive interpreting practice,retelling training.
