Translation of Chinese texts on international strategic research into English serves the purpose of communicating to the English world China's views and standpoints on international strategies and providing a reference for global policy decision-makers.The purpose of this paper is to identify challenges in the translation of Chinese strategic research papers into English and offer practical solutions.The paper analyses Chinese texts from the China International Strategy Review and finds that these strategic research papers are inherently political,interdisciplinary and persuasive,with a clear focus on addressing current and emerging security threats.Their textual characteristics bring about translation challenges,especially in the rendition of politically-charged expressions,multidisciplinary content,and logically incoherent analyses.In response,the paper offers suggestions on how to choose proper expressions,use parallel texts,and ensure textual coherence during translation.It is hoped that the paper will be of value in understanding the patterns of Chinese strategic research papers and translating them into English.
