Chanllenge And Avoidance Strategies Of Inappropriate Repetition In Spanish-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting

In language expression,repetition often plays a variety of roles,such as emphasizing content and supplementing instructions.However,inappropriate repetition often leads to many problems,such as ambiguity and lack of fluency in the expression.In the Spanish to Chinese consecutive interpreting,the synonymous stacking phenomenon(Pleonasmo)often occurs in the Spanish expression,which makes the interpreter more likely to make mistakes,thus seriously affecting the quality of interpreting.Inappropriate repetition is a problem that must be solved.This thesis analyses the speech and the author's Spanish-Chinese interpreting transcript of the Entrepreneurs Forum on the 8th Americas Summit.First of all,the thesis defines inappropriate repetition based on literature in the area of linguistics and translation studies.The thesis classifies inappropriate repetition into different types and explores the causes of the phenomenon.Finally,this thesis gives specific strategies to every types and causes of inappropriate repetition.Hopefully,this thesis can provide reference for Spanish-Chinese interpreting learner to overcome this problem.
