| This report is based on the interpreting task undertaken by the author from March to June,2018 for the project of installation and commissioning of devices on two continuous annealing lines(CALs)and a continuous galvanization line(CGL)at Rizhao Co.,Ltd of Shandong Iron and Steel Group.The interpreting task is characterized by a long working period,a number of professional tenns in metallurgy and a tough working environment.However,the author has smoothly finished the task and has acquired a high evaluation from both the clients and direct users due to sufficient preparations from the very beginning,hard work as well as instruction from experienced colleagues in the process,and his renewed reflections throughout the whole task.The author's main task is to provide interpreting service for foreign experts and Chinese staff on the site of devices' installation and commissioning so that both sides can have a good understanding and communication for working issues.The report,analyzing a number of typical examples in the author's interpreting task,demonstrates that it is important for interpreters to employ concepts of the Interpretive Theory such as cognitive complement and deverbalization n interpreting,since it can help improve the fluence,accuracy and practicability of interpreting.In addition,the author argues that as for certain interpreting tasks,interpreters may employ the strategy of "zero-translation"to improve communication efficacy.The author hopes that this report could enable interpreters to be aware of the significance of cognitive complement to interpreting tasks,especially those featuring a large vocabulary in a certain professional field.Moreover,interpreters should take into account the expressing habit of target-language listeners and adopt the deverbalization and zero-translation flexibly to insure that the output is fluent,natural and professional,assisting various parties to have better communication. |
