Chen Ying,a Chinese modern female writer,is lonely in the history of literature and may be unknown to many people. As one of the representatives of the second generation of female writers in the new literature,Chen Ying filled some vacancy of the first generation of women writers like Bing Xin and Feng Yuanjun,in addition to eulogizing the sacred mother's love, and regarding the understanding of the native family. At the same time, she clearly presents the alienation of the urban male and female ego and the alienation between themselves and others, and inspires the third generation female writers like Zhang Ailing to think deeply about women's survival in the city, which is of transitional significance.Chen Ying's novels were mainly written in the middle of the 20 th century and were mostly based on the ordinary family life and revolutionary and social stories in cities.Different from the mainstream literature of the same period, she jumped out of the revolutionary slogan and went deep into the daily life of modern urban family life and went directly to the soul of the ordinary people. She put in unique thought and feelings about the society and life to the works, and turn them into individualized thoughts, artistic features and aesthetic pursuit. She successfully opened up a field of her own in a leisurely manner. This paper starts from three aspects, which are female consciousness, modern family mode and urban cultural background.Using the methods of feminist theory, literature sociology, urban culture research and other methods to the research of overall Chen Ying's novels, the paper is to explore and discover,in a more comprehensive system, the deep connotation and the rich significance,so as to reveal the social value and modern significance of the works. The research can provide us some inspiration to make the development of modern city female literature more coherent.
