The Report On Translation Of Business News From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

Business news enables people to quickly learn about the latest economic trends.And it plays an indispensable role in disseminating current economic information.With the rapid development of world economy,people would like to be informed of latest business news as soon as possible.However,languages differences among countries restrict people’s access to it.Accordingly,there is a surging demand for business news translation.Translation Variation Theory aims to meet the specific needs of the target readers.It allows translators to make appropriate adjustments to the source text by means of addition,deletion,edition,narration,condensation,combination and adaptation.These methods are of great help to improve the quality of business news translation.Therefore,guided by the Translation Variation Theory,this translation report points out various translation methods commonly used in business news translation with specific cases selected from the translation work by the author when served as an intern in China Daily.This translation report consists of five chapters.Chapter one mainly introduces the business news translation project in China Daily,including the background and translation procedures.Chapter two is about Translation Variation Theory and its seven methods.Chapter three gives a brief introduction to the textual features,linguistic features and translation principles of business news.Chapter four is the case study,analyzing how various methods are applied to business news translation guided by the Translation Variation Theory.Chapter five is the conclusion,including summary of the translation practice as well as limitations of this report.
