On E-C Translation Of Political News From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Political news covers elections,legislations,government reforms and policies,diplomatic negotiations and meetings,leaders' visits and activities of international organizations.Political news provides readers an effective window on understanding the international situation and overview the global trends.Vermeer's Skopos theory emphasizes the function of the target text and the target readers.The translation should take all the characteristics of the original text,such as vivid words and compact sentences.Skopos theory puts forward three rules of Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule to guide the translation strategies adopted in the translation practice.It is of significance to guide the Chinese translation of English political news.In this report,the author selects articles translated during the internship in China Daily.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background,significance and structure.The second chapter presents the characteristics of news and political news,demonstrates the definition of political news,analyzes the basic characteristics of political news in terms of vocabulary,syntax and text,and briefly introduces the research on the translation of political news at home and abroad.The third chapter is about the theoretical framework.It summarizes the development of Skopos theory,introduces the three principles of Skopos theory and the supplement of Skopos theory by Nord.In the fourth chapter,the author focuses on how to apply Skopos theory to the translation of English political news.Through translation practice and reference to parallel texts,the author explains the translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos theory.The fifth chapter is the conclusion which summarizes the author's findings and limitations in translation practice.
