With the rapid development of Chinese tourism,a large number of foreign tourists are pouring into China.Guide interpreters play a very important role in this process.Because the guide interpreting is tourist-oriented and impromptu with flexibility,there are bound to be a series of cultural obstacles in the interpreting process.Therefore,the guide interpreter needs to employ appropriate interpreting methods to ensure the quality of interpreting and achieve cultural exchanges.This report is based on the author’s guide interpreting with the theme of“Retracing Footsteps of Dr.Norman Bethune” and summarizes the problems and experiences encountered in the process of interpreting.It is divided into five chapters:In the first chapter,the task description introduces the background of the author’s practice,the nature and characteristics of the practical activities of guide interpreting.The second chapter is the description of interpreting process,which mainly includes pre-interpreting preparation,in-interpreting operation and post-interpreting summary.The third chapter is the introduction of Adaptation Theory and the four research perspectives of Adaptation Theory.Chapter Four is case study mainly about the the analysis with relevant examples based on Adaptation Theory and the corresponding interpreting methods are put forward.Chapter Five is a conclusion of interpreting practice.Among them,Chapter Four is the core content of this practice report.The author hopes to gain the experience through practice,provide reference not only for the author’s guide interpreting project in the future,but also for beginners in interpreting.
