The construction of "ba(?)N yi(?)V",which used frequentlyin modern Chinese, has concise form, rich meaning and specific expressive function. On the basis of previous studies, guided by the theory of "three planes",this paper focused on three characteristics of the construction, the semantic features and the pragmatic functions of the form. And analyzed the formation mechanism of the construction by the combination of relevant theories in pragmatics. Then, this paper proposed some operable suggestions on the construction of teaching Chinese as a foreign language to provide theoretical support for classroom teaching and textbook compilation.First of all, this paper defined the study objects. After explaining the significance topic selection, this paper made an investigation and analysis of the construction from three aspects: outside form, semantics and pragmatics. The results showed that the variable "N" which enters the construction represents human body parts and has independence characteristic. It can act as three semantic roles-"Acting","Subjecting",and "Affecting".Because of double restrictions of phonetics and semantics,"V" is mostly a monosyllabic verb with persistent meaning. And it has it has the semantic characteristics of independence and reality. It was also found that that the format has three semantic features, instantaneous, perfect and status, and has has the expressive functions of "emotion rendering" and "expressing indicative meaning".In addition, the clause formed by the construction of "ba N yi V" is not self-sufficient in semantics, but has the background function of expressing and explaining in whole text.In the end, this paper briefly analyzed the generating mechanism of the construction of "ba N yi V".
