The translation material selected is the third chapter of From Paris to Nurenmberg---The Birth of Conference Interpreting, which belongs to the informative text, with high speciality, condensed and precise words, rigorous sentences, rich information,as well as the logical structure. To reproduce the information of the original text in a comprehensive and accurate way as well as make the translation conform to Chinese habits, the author mainly takes Peter Newmark's communicative theory as the guide, faithfulness and smoothness as the main principles, and adopts the methods of literal translation and free translationThe translation report is composed of four parts:the first part"Translation task description"introduces the material source and its authors as well as explores the literature review of the history of interpretation in China and the significance of selecting the text as a translation material;the second part"Overview of translation process"explains the translation difficulties in the preparation as well as check, polish and finalization;the third part“Translation case analysis"analyzes the translation difficulties and summarizes the translation skills used in this practice at levels of the vocabulary, syntax and discourse, and presents the author's translation experience;the fourth part is"Translation practice summary".In the whole process of translation, the author mastered the selection criteria of translation materials as well as applied the translation theories and skills to practice, such as:the semantic extension, splitting long and difficult sentences. The author learned that the theoretical knowledge could not be used mechanically.Only by focusing on the translation material itself and refining on the translation, can translators complete a high-quality translation.
