A Study On The Narrative Of The Documentary Of The Extreme Road

By using the method of text analysis,this paper gives an example to analyze the content of the Extreme Road,a Tibetan humanistic documentary of CCTV science and education channel,in four aspects: Narrative content,Narrative perspective,Narrative structure and Narrative Strategy.Firstly,the author summarizes the record content of The Extreme Road,this paper roughly classifies the stories of 21 characters and explores the humanistic care behind the main body of the content.,The specific plots and narrative techniques of each story are briefly combed.Secondly,it analyses the director's thinking and audience's thinking in The Extreme Road,the scene scheduling and shot scheduling of the documentary were analyzed in combination with the audience's psychology.Thirdly,the author classifies the narrative structure of the documentary The Extreme Road into two categories.Macroscopically,this paper combs and summarizes the plate narrative structure and editing rhythm of the documentary The Extreme Road,and the article analyses the character interview lens which plays the role of the sub-total series structure.Microscopically,this paper tries to construct the documentary "Bring Cognitive Information with Character Stories".It also combs the behind-the-scenes tidbits appearing with the performers' performances,and analyses the importance of the behind-the-scenes tidbits to the whole documentary.Finally,the paper summarizes the narrative strategy of the documentary.The article divides narrative strategy into two aspects: recessive narrative and explicit narrative.In the aspect of recessive narrative,this paper expounds four outstanding characteristics of documentary in the process of creation: non-fiction narrative,character shaping,suspense setting and emotional environment rendering.In the aspect of explicit narrative,the paper focuses on the auditory language and visual language of documentaries.The article holds that the reason why The Extreme Road,as the First Works of the 100-volume documentary film "National Cultural Journey",a key project of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission,has received wide acclaim is that it is not only the director recorded the extreme living environment of Tibet through a calm and restrained documentary,but also the director focused on the human beings living in the extreme environment.The Extreme Road shows the daily life of ordinary people in Tibet to express their optimistic attitude towards life and simple values.And The documentary also sets off the unique geographical environment and human characteristics of Tibet.
