In recent years,the emerging industries represented by the Internet have developed vigorously,breaking the living environment of some traditional industries.With the popularity of e-books and the change of the reading habits of the public,the sales of traditional books have been affected to a certain extent.In order to meet the competitive needs of the reading market in the information age,paper books must give full play to the value of their physical existence.The cover of a magazine is the first visual image of the reader,and the cover with visual appeal is easier to attract the reader’s attention,thus inducing them to read,buy or collect.Compared with other paper books,magazines pay more attention to the timeliness of sales,so the cover design is particularly important.The research on magazine cover design is to give full play to the artistic value of physical books,and also to create a good reading experience for consumers.Looking at the cover design of magazines in our country,the form of expression is single,the cover content is mostly photographic images,lacking design sense and vividness.Therefore,it is necessary to study the cover design of excellent magazines abroad.Japanese designer Micao’s cover design is the collision of retro and fashion,the combination of childlike interest and creativity,the embodiment of inheritance and development.Her artistic style and design form are very popular in Japan,but little research has been done on her design works in China.Therefore,this paper aims to extract the design concept by studying Micao’s magazine cover design works,so as to obtain magazine’s design idea.The value orientation of cover design: whether it is the revival of tradition or the diversification and individualization of design,is to achieve high emotional communication to meet the emotional needs of consumers,starting from the consumer’s reading experience,so that readers can get emotional and spiritual satisfaction.Therefore,this paper applies the research results to the practical creation,thus rejuvenating new life,and providing new ideas for the design of the cover ofdomestic magazines.Firstly,this paper analyses the visual elements of the cover of Micao’s magazine,summarizes her design concept,expounds the form of expression and aesthetic characteristics,and then obtains enlightenment by comparing with the cover design of domestic magazines.Secondly,guided by the previous research results,the author proceeds from the value orientation of the public and carries out design practice to verify the feasibility of the research.Finally,it concludes that the emotional cover design is in line with the modern aesthetic concept.Designers should start from user experience and make emotional design.This is the demand of modern cultural fashion,as well as the emotional and spiritual needs of contemporary people. |
