This translation report is based on the 30 th and 31 st chapters of The Oxford Handbook of Political Press, which respectively demonstrates the two themes of party system and political clientelism in comparative politics. This book is a political science text,in which its strong professionalism and complex sentence structure ensure the text is coherent both in semantics and logic. However, the differences in logic, thinking patterns and cultural background between Chinese and English languages make it difficult to both restructure the coherence and realize the information transmission function of the source text during the translation practice. Therefore, this paper mainly discusses the achievement of coherent equivalence between the target and source text in three aspects: semantic coherence, logical coherence and stylistic coherence. At the level of semantic coherence, the author tries to grasp the coherence features from the aspects of inter-word coherence and inter-sentence coherence;at the logical coherence level, the author focuses on how to effectively identify and transform the logical causation, transition and condition relations implied in the source text and reproduce the logical coherence of the source language. At the level of stylistic coherence, the author analyzes the source text from the perspective of grammar, selects two prominent stylistic features of nominalization structure and inanimate subject structure, and tries to reproduce the objectivity and professionalism of the source text.In terms of different levels of coherence problems, corresponding solutions are given in this paper by combining with cases. In the end,the author has benefited a lot from this translation practice and sincerely hopes that the report could provide some reference to related translation studies.
