Although the academia has made certain achievements in the study on the errors about existential sentence,most of them were supported by nationalized questionnaires and test papers.However,few researches were conducted based on corpus.This thesis tries to sort out the ontology knowledge of existential sentence,summarize the current status and achievements of the researches on it,confirm its definition and lower sentence patterns,and then examine the usage of existential sentences by foreign students with above conclusion based on the searched segment B“the existential verb” of the existential sentences in corpus,which is divided into the sentence patterns of “?”“?”“verb +?”“verb +?”“verb + complement”,“pure verbs”,exist/disappear classes,and trend verbs/moving phrase classes.On the basis of the survey of corpus,a total of seven errors were identified:omissions,additions,misuses,redundancy,misalignment,chowder and overuse,among which the most common mistakes are mistakes and omissions,and the least is overuse.According to the analysis of the causes and types of biases,the thesis found four influencing factors,including negative transfer of mother tongue,the generalization of target language knowledge,learning strategies and communication strategies as well as teachers and textbooks.In response to above conclusion,several teaching suggestions are proposed,such as the teaching order of existential words can be “?”——“?”——“?”——“V+?”——“V+?”——directional verb/verb-trending phrase — — appear/disappear — — bare-verb — —“ V+(Supplement)+ ? ”.Also,the thesis will raise certain training method and specific advice on the avoidance strategy of hidden sentence,the misuse of sentencepattern of“?”and“?”,the omission of position word and quantifier word as well as the recommendations to the teacher and textbook.
