A Practice Report On Liaison Interpreting For The Management Meeting Of Vink (Xuzhou) Plastic Co., Ltd

Nowadays,more and more foreign invested enterprises launch its branches in China.Qualified and talented Chinese staffs were hired to run the subsidiary.However,most of them can’t communicate with foreigners fluently and efficiently,so there are more and more demands for qualified interpreters.Interpreters who work in foreign invested enterprises,on the one hand,should be qualified in interpreting and possess strong psychological quality,on the other hand,they should take speakers’ position into consideration and adopt proper ways to interpret in order to complete interpreting task and improve the development of company.The contents of this report are based on a management meeting held at the end of 2018.During the conference,the author served as the interpreter of general manager and managers from different departments.This paper analyzes preparation of interpreter before interpreting,performance during the process of interpreting,interpreting skills adapted in the task and the weakness found during this interpreting.This report is composed of four parts,the first part introduces the interpretation task,describing the task content,task feature and audience and service object.From the author’s perspective,a qualified interpreter should search and collect enough background knowledge of this interpreting task and the condition of every attendee.The second part mainly focuses on task process,including preparation of the author’s interpretation before meeting,evaluation of participants,their feedback and self-evaluation.The interpreter can have a clear and correct recognition of his own advantages and disadvantages through collecting feedback from different attendees and expect better performance in the next task.The third part analyzes interpreting during the conference and find out some interpreting strategies and solutions to address the problems.The fourth part is the reflection and summary of this report,providing practical suggestions and experience for future interpretingwork and other interpreters.
