Motivation,as an important part of learners' individual factors in the process of learning a second language,is the purpose and reason of learners' learning,and also the main driving force for learners to study hard.A good motivation is the basis for students to keep learning enthusiasm and learning effectiveness.As a public university in Malaysia,University Malaysia Pahang is an important institute for training Chinese language talents.A survey and interview are conducted to make research on the motivation of students' motivation to learn Chinese language and the influence factors affecting the motivation.Based on Gardner social psychology motive mode of the type "integrative motivation" and "instrumental motivation" and Deci Edward L.'s and Ryan Richard M.'s "intrinsic motivation" and "extrinsic motivation",a survey and interview are designed to collect data of the students' learning motivation of Chinese learning and its influence factors,the data analysis is carried out through SPSSAU and Excel.The research finding shows as follows:Most of the research Subjects hold a positive attitude towards Chinese language,There are 99 students,and 98% students who fill out the questionnaires and 15 of them take the interview,among them,98% of students like Chinese language and have a strong motivation to learn Chinese.There are four types of motivations of students in University Malaysia Pahang:instrumental motivation(79.78%),intrinsic motivation(57.04%),integrative motivation(53.84%)and extrinsic motivation(50.11%).The research finding also show Students' motivation is also influenced by both internal and external factors.Internal factors mainly include students' gender,grade,study time,personality,learning ability and interest in Chinese learning,while external factors are related to family,school and social and cultural environment.Students have a strong desire to learn Chinese,and their positive attitude towards Chinese is conducive to Chinese learning with a strong internal motivation,which ensures the effectiveness of Chinese learning.Based on the results above,some suggestions are put forward in the following four aspects: Chinese teachers,the selection and compilation of Chinese learning materials for students,the construction of a friendly classroom environment,the organization of a variety of Chinese extracurricular activities.This research could give some guidance to enhance students' enthusiasm in Chinese learning,to cultivate their inherent interest in Chinese learning,and form a good learning motivation for students.The paper could be of some help in foreign students' learning Chinese,and the effectiveness of Chinese learning in the world.
