An Interpreting Practice Report On Rehabilitation Medicine Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

The development of rehabilitation medicine in China starts late and mainly draws on the research findings of developed counties.In recent years the demand for rehabilitation has increased rapidly.Rehabilitation medicine in China has achieved fast development and the international exchanges in this field have been frequently conducted.In this process,the translation of rehabilitation medicine is contributing significantly to the international academic exchanges.Currently,most dissertations on medical interpretation research put more emphasis on the study of interpreting skills while pay less attention on the improvement of thinking and comprehension ability to the source discourse.However,to reach the goal of accurate and professional target language reproduction,the interpreter should first be equipped to understanding the source discourse thoroughly.The dissertation takes the tape scripts of the rehabilitation interpreting in Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the research materials and analyzes both successful and failed interpreting cases under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.Consequently,the author puts forward two reasons for the difficulties in source-discourse comprehension,which are source-discourse listening barriers and illogic of source discourse.To cope with the abovementioned difficulties,the author proposes two corresponding interpretive thinking skills,which are association,prediction and inference as well as logic analysis training respectively,so as to enhance the interpreter’s capacity of source-discourse comprehension,improve the quality of target language reproduction and ultimately promote the foreign exchanges in this field and boost the further development of domestic rehabilitation medicine.
