A Research On Newscartoon Of Irony & Humour (2012-2018)

As a supplement to People's Daily cartoons,Irony & Humour has always taken cartoons as its main form,aiming at satirizing the current situation and humorous life.This article takes the newscartoons which situate in the front page and hot social issues of Irony & Humour as the research object,analyzes the contents of political newscartoons,economic newscartoons,social newscartoons and sports newscartoons.In addition,the essay summarizes their comment features from 2012 to2018.Newscartoon,as a multi-modal text with both images and words,has the characteristics of journalism,artistry and appraisal.Based on these three characteristics,this paper conducts sample analysis from the three aspects of topic characteristics,comment strategy characteristics and comment tendency characteristics.The study found that Irony & Humour has a wide range of topics,diverse perspectives of commentary,some topics are cyclical,and social news has the highest attention.The number of political news comics is declining and the depth of the comment shows a downward trend.All long,It pays less attention to economic issues and sports issues.In the aspect of comment strategy,newscartoon makes good use of metaphor,exaggeration,symbol and other visual rhetoric.Titles are good at using literary devices such as pun and irony to limit and guide the interpretation process of comics meaning.The legibility of news commentary is strong,good at using network buzzwords,classic literary works or current popular film and television works,etc.,to assist comics to complete the meaning of communication.In the aspect of comment tendency,negative attitudes are the mainstay.
